Master Underwater Technologies has developed. MARA, Miniature Ascent Rate Alarm. This is a small device that is clipped to your mask strap that makes an unmistakable audible alarm. It emits a different tone for different assent rates, plus a separate tone for your safety stop at 15 ft. So you can easily monitor your assent rate by the tone that only you can hear. So this will help you be S.A.F.E. diver that will Slowly Ascend From Every dive.
Here is another innovative item. The Aqua Sketch. It is an underwater drawing system. Instead of a slate that you write on underwater, this handy wrist mounted system, holds up to 10ft of waterproof paper, that is erasable or storable. It comes with 5 dive log formats, and 4 ft.blank paper that you can advance with the knob to a clean spot. Also included is a wrist strap, graphite pencil and underwater eraser.
Another new product on the scene is The Diver's Platform. The Diver's Platform is not just a float. For the first time a real tool to help instructors, commercial divers and students enhance their diving experience. It is a round float with an aluminum rail around the outside, that tired divers can hold onto to rest. It has an aluminum basket in the middle to hold
various items, from extra weights to tools and other things you might need for your dive. It has hooks on the underside where you can suspend extra tanks as needed. A dive flag for safety flies topside. It is a virtual floating workbench for divers.
Another fine piece of equipment, made right here in USA, are two new underwater reels made by Spectrum Diving Equipment . The Reeler uses a line leveler, that winds the line on a spool in an even fashion allowing for 67% more line to be on the reel. It also have a line tensioning system that allows for even tensioning as you reel the line in. The Autoreeler, incorporates many of the same features of the Reeler, but is completely hands free and totally automatic. You can take photo's or video while using a dive reel. The Autoreeler connects to a standard D-ring on your BC. Just tighten the spool drag and turn the unit on. The Autoreeler will automatically let line out and wind in as needed.
